Together with the artists Karianne Stensland and Per Kristian Nygård, Arkitekturfabrikken pre-qualified in autumn 2014 for the competition to design a memorial site for 22 July in Trondheim.
The theme of transition formed a central point of departure for the project. Transition through a process of grief. Transition between phases of life. Transition from reflection to action. And the transition from the fast-paced city into a timeless stone landscape. The memorial is designed to reinforce this movement, inviting visitors into a robust and tactile space that encourages quiet reflection.
