The site is located on a sloping plot in Trondheim, with open views northwards across Trondheimsfjorden. The upper part of the site is flatter and well suited for outdoor areas for relaxation and play, while the steep lower section quickly is impractical for most functions. The building is carefully positioned to create a natural transition between the built environment and the surrounding landscape, while optimising for expansive views in multiple directions.
The detached house is designed as a slender building volume that follows the natural slope of the terrain. This approach reduces the need for extensive ground works and allows the building to engage harmoniously with its surroundings. Large openings frame the fjord views and bring generous daylight deep into the interior, strengthening the connection between inside and outside throughout the seasons.
The floor plan is rational, efficient and easy to navigate, supporting both everyday living and long-term flexibility, which is essential for a growing family home. The project was also organised so the client could carry out selected parts of the construction work themselves, contributing to a more personal, flexible and sustainable building process. The same focus on views, daylight and sensitive adaptation to the terrain can also be seen in Enebolig Lade, where architectural clarity and site-specific design work together to create lasting quality.
