Zoning plan proposal for a new residential area in Byåsen, Trondheim.

This proposal develops a diverse and layered neighbourhood on Byåsen in Trondheim, where a small-scale urban structure meets untouched nature. The buildings are positioned along the slope, connecting Jakobstien and the historic Åsveien through a sequence of intimate courtyards designed at a human scale.
The site’s landscape is actively used to organise the development across two levels. At the lower part of the area, apartment buildings are discreetly placed within a natural depression in the terrain. The flatter upper section is reserved for low-rise, higher-density housing organised in clusters, creating a strong sense of community and well-defined social meeting places. This clustered housing structure shapes the landscape and enables residential development with good density, combined with green spaces, daylight and openness.
